Woody and The Beaver

No…. not THAT Woody and Beaver. Sheesh, this isn’t an R rated blog.

I mentioned a few months ago a year ago that Wynnie had some Disney princess movies that had to be taken away (the cat ate them while she was at school) because the princesses are big crybabies and Wynnie would spend hours reenacting the crying scenes, and that makes me want to scream. Now it’s an adventure all in itself to find appropriate movies for her that don’t make her fake cry all day long.

A few weeks ago we were at the consignment store and I found Toy Story and Toy Story 2. Yes ladies and gentleman….these are the new movies of choice in our house. Every day Wynnie chants “Woody! Woody! Woody!”. Mack loves it, too.

I’m so happy. Maybe she’ll forget about the crybaby princesses!

In other news… Mack has taken to eating his crib. In months past he had nibbled a little bit of the color off (please, oh PLEASE let that stain and polyurethane be non-toxic). But yesterday I went in to find this:

So now I'm wondering how much damage has been done to his innards after ingesting that much wood finish. But all kids consume less-than-safe things, right? Right?

OMG, that's so funny!

#1. You might want to try the kids on The Incredibles. No crying princesses there!

#2. They make a ... thing ... that goes over the tops of the cribs that makes it safe to chew on. But, um ... maybe he needs more fiber in his diet?

Just think of all the lead paint we chewed on as babies.

wood=fiber
wood finish=see witchypoo--we all lived

You know all those receiving blankets everyone says you have to have. Well, they are tied around his crib . . . I did it to protect his little head. Now, I leave 'em place to protect the pricey crib :)

I think knowing that babies chew on things that they wouldn't make the stain stuff out of anything *too* horrible.

I hope.

If he grows extra arms and legs take him to the doc, otherwise don't worry.

Now if he wants to break down the crib and build a dam, worry.
You may have given birth to Bucky the Beaver.

My kids are WAY into Toy Story right now as well! I second Moo's suggestion of The Incredibles, and add The Jungle Book, Tarzan, Robin Hood (though that does have Maid Marion), and Cars to the list (my kids watched so many movies when I was last pregnant it wasn't even funny!)

Oy on the crib! I will add that to the very, very tiny number of reasons I didn't mind that my kids prefered my bed to the crib. That should make diaper changes a bit more interesting!

And here I thought it was ANOTHER David Duchovny post. ;-)

Wow... when you hear people say their children bite the cribs you don't think too much of it.

Holy cowsers. He really did eat it.

Maybe a little bit of the stuff they put on kids to help them stop biting their nails may help?

Puppies and teething kids. All furniture is in danger.

But just think! His organs will have a beautiful wood veneer! People pay thousands of dollars to get that done!

my lillie ate so much of her crib, i couldn't even sell it at a garage sale.

{not even to those stragglers who come at the end with a giant pickup full of fam!}

so...right. kids consume unsafe things all the time...at least, mine do. {insert mother-of-the-year theme song here.}

Once Ivy ate so much tinsel the inside of her nappy looked like a Christmas tree... surely a bit of crib veneer won't harm the little guy?

oh wow, do you feed that kid? :) i'm sure he'll be fine.

Mine may have eaten a thumbtack.

I think yours will survive. Though he may have a career in carpentry in his future ...
